Weekend golf attractions

THIS is the first of what will become a weekly update on golfing attractions and activities within and outside Harare in independentsport. The results of the tournaments will be published on Tuesday in our sister paper, Newsday. Tomorrow sees Royal Harare Golf Club hosting the Curry Cup, an annual golf tournament pitting The Cowboys against The Indians youtube golf lessons. The Indians are this year’s defending champions who would be delighted if they can repeat last year’s performance and outclass The Cowboys. However, the Cowboys are expected to be in an uncompromising mood and will fight to win the cup. Sunday and Monday will be the turn of the Seniors Golf Society who have their tournament at the same venue.Chapman Golf Club have their usual Saturday  four-ball Betterball Stableford tournament which is an event open to members and non-members alike. Borrowdale Brooke host a club-sponsored Saturday medal game, while on Sunday they host Shumba Golf Society who are expected to come in their numbers as usual Latest Golf News about These Great Golfers.

At Wingate Park golf club there is a club-sponsored  Individual Stableford competition. Sunday morning will see the Gobblers having their monthly tournament.At Falcon Golf Club, the Eagles Golf Society will on Saturday have a morning game. In the afternoon there will be a medal game open to all golfers which would be sponsored by Falcon caterer, Mai Jimmy who is popular for her “sadza and mabhonzo” dishes.On the other side of the city at Sherwood golf club, there will be a club sponsored individual tournament.Nearby, at Warren Hills golf club, a club sponsored individual stableford competition will also take place.Country Club will have a normal Saturday club tournament followed by a Sunday morning hosting of the Mthwakazi Golf Society’s first game of this month.Ruwa Country Club and Mount Pleasant golf clubs do not have any tournaments.
